Suspicious of his sudden fervor, Sheng Tang confronts him directly. 'What's your angle here?' Mr. Gu answers with characteristic charm: 'Being an ardent admirer of one's beloved shouldn't invite suspicion.' Sheng Tang isn't convinced.
