Lâm Thư said to Phương Ngữ Nhi:
"The car showroom where I work is hiring an assistant. You should apply and see."
After all, Ngữ Nhi wanted to earn more money to help her family.
Ngữ Nhi and Lâm Thư had been university friends since their first year.
Several years after graduating, Lâm Thư worked as an accountant for various companies before taking a position as an accountant at a luxury car showroom near her home for convenience. Since it catered exclusively to the wealthy, her income was quite good.
In contrast, Ngữ Nhi loved baking and wanted to continue her family's trade, as her parents owned a small bakery. Lately, with the difficult economy, business had been slower than before, and the family's income was tighter. Moreover, her younger brother was attending university, so she wanted to find an additional office-hour job to supplement her family's earnings.
Ngữ Nhi hesitated for a moment, worried she wouldn't be suitable, as she didn't have much experience. But with Lâm Thư's encouragement, and considering her family's circumstances, she thought the income from that job would probably be stable. So, she decided to just send in her application. If she got it, great; if not, she had nothing to lose.
And just three days later, someone actually called her for an interview.
That day, it rained heavily from morning till evening. Phương Ngữ Nhi secretly thought her luck was a bit bad; whenever something important came up, it always poured. Nevertheless, she grabbed an umbrella and hurried to the bus stop to get to her appointment.
Upon arriving, she was surprised to see only two people: herself and another girl who had come for the interview. Even with just the two of them, she still felt a bit nervous and anxious, wondering if they would ask a lot of questions.
The interviewer was a middle-aged woman who was quick-witted and seemed quite professional.
"Hello, I'm An Khánh. With this rain and wind, I'm really glad you two made it." Then she quickly reviewed both their resumes and nodded: "Can either of you start working tomorrow?"
"Huh?" Ngữ Nhi and the other girl exchanged bewildered glances. They hadn't asked anything about their skills or anything else, just if they could start working immediately. It was the first time she had encountered such a situation.
Seeing the two girls look at her with confusion, An Khánh smiled:
"Looking at your resumes, I already have a pretty good idea of your experience. Actually, I scheduled quite a few people for interviews today, but only you two braved the heavy rain to come. That alone makes me satisfied."
Phương Ngữ Nhi silently registered "Ah" in her mind, but before she could speak, the other girl said, "Sister, I can't start tomorrow. I haven't finished handing over my work at my old company. I thought I'd have to wait about a week for a notification, so I didn't expect to start right away. I can't arrange it." An Khánh nodded, then looked at Ngữ Nhi: "What about you?"
Ngữ Nhi, who had been engrossed in listening, was startled slightly and nodded blankly: "I don't have any commitments..."
That was all An Khánh needed. Without letting her finish, she concluded: "Okay, you start tomorrow. See you at 8:30 AM at the showroom."
And just like that, Phương Ngữ Nhi found a job with surprising ease. On her way home, she thought, "How strange, why was it so quick and simple!?" Perhaps she was lucky today.
Suddenly, she was incredibly excited to start work tomorrow. She had to tell Lâm Thư right away.
"Thư, I got the job!"
Lâm Thư beamed: "Congratulations, congratulations! So now we'll be working in the same building! I'll pick you up tomorrow morning."
After saying that, she got off the bus and walked home, a cheerful feeling in her heart.
