On the Huyền Linh Continent, a family resided in Thanh Vương City – the Hoang Family. A handsome young man named Hoang Ton was born to Ngo Vu Si, a maid of the Hoang Family. Scorned by everyone for his inability to become a Xuan practitioner or a Ling practitioner, he was determined to reclaim justice for himself and his mother, fueled by boundless passion.
“Could it be… am I dead?” Hoang Ton mumbled, half-conscious.
“Hoang'er, are you alright?” asked Ngo Vu Si, a beautiful woman in her forties who still retained the appearance of a young maiden. She was Hoang Ton’s mother.
“Why am I here? I should have been in the underworld!” Hoang Ton questioned.
“Hoang'er, it’s good that you’re alright. I’ll sneak some medicine to apply for you later.” Vu Si looked at her son as silent tears streamed down her face.
“Mother, I’m much better now. Thank you very much.” Hoang Ton replied, looking at Vu Si. His heart ached as if his guts were being twisted, seeing his mother endure such humiliation in this rotten family.
After the medicine was applied, Hoang Ton’s injuries improved somewhat. He harbored resentment towards Hoang Long, his half-brother, who frequently sought out Hoang Ton to cause trouble, leading him to this predicament.
“If only I could cultivate Xuan Qi or Ling Qi, I would show him what it means to be hoisted by his own petard.” Hoang Ton’s eyes were filled with intense hatred.
The Huyền Linh Continent was a land comprised of nine elemental spiritual Qi attributes: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth, Wind, Lightning, Light, and Darkness. Each attribute was distinct yet combined to create balance for the continent. Light and Darkness stabilized time and space; Wood and Earth maintained the stability of all things in the mortal realm; Wind and Lightning brought stability to the celestial domain. Water and Fire created the balance between Yin and Yang. Finally, there was Metal. Metal was an attribute that allowed its wielder to strengthen themselves by drawing upon all things, a power capable of destroying an entire mountain, and it brought balance to strength itself. Xuan practitioners were those who cultivated Xuan Qi to attack with attributes, while Ling practitioners followed a cultivation path no one could have imagined. This was because Ling practitioners cultivated Ling Qi, capable of ghostly and incredibly powerful attacks. Ling practitioners only attacked the opponent's soul, setting up formations or utilizing extremely potent spirit treasures. The path of a Ling practitioner was incredibly strict, which was why very few on the Huyền Linh Continent knew the true strength of a powerful Ling practitioner. However, compared to the combat techniques of Xuan practitioners, Ling practitioners were weaker in close-quarters combat and their bodies were not as robust as Xuan practitioners. This was the balance between Xuan and Ling practitioners.
