A luxurious hospital stood tall in the middle of the city. This was one of the most famous hospitals in the world; hardly anyone didn't know its name. Its reputation, known globally, was built upon the expertise of its doctors and the most advanced equipment.
However, that didn't mean it could cure all diseases. And Zi You was one of those cases.
In truth, he was a pitiful person. Orphaned from a young age, he was later taken into an orphanage. But, ironically, not long after, the orphanage burned down. Once again, he lost everything.
Afterward, his aunt and uncle from abroad took him in. But fate seemed unwilling to let him live in peace. From then on, he contracted an extremely strange illness: periodically, he would suffer excruciating pain that felt like dying and coming back to life. Even the top-tier Hospital X had no solution.
He was currently twenty-five years old, yet he didn't even have a single friend, let alone a girlfriend. Or rather, no one wanted to get close to someone afflicted with such a strange illness as Zi You. This was precisely what had turned him into a cold, indifferent person, someone who didn't even care about death.
In a luxurious house on the outskirts of the city, a young man was leaning back in a chair, seemingly asleep. His face was, one could say, flawlessly perfect. Even his pale, bloodless complexion couldn't diminish his beauty. This was indeed Zi You. But he wasn't merely sleeping; he was enduring the agony he had suffered for nearly twenty years. If it were anyone else, they would likely have screamed in pain, but he didn't even utter a groan, showing the immense strength of his resolve.
After more than an hour, his strange illness finally subsided. He gently stood up, opened the door, and walked out onto the balcony. Taking a deep breath, a faint hint of enjoyment flickered in his eyes…
"Hmm! Uncle is here again."
Not long after, a luxurious car gradually appeared in his sight. Perhaps this was the only compensation for his illness: all his senses were incredibly sharp. He could hear even the slightest sound, and even when the illness flared up, he could detect the faintest vibration in the air. He could even see in the dark…
Soon after, the car arrived at the house where he was staying. Seeing this, he calmly went downstairs. A middle-aged man stepped out of the car just as Zi You opened the door.
"Uncle, you're not going home again?"
He let out a soft chuckle. Perhaps only with the uncle standing before him could he manage a smile. This was, in fact, quite normal, as his uncle was the only person who had taken him in during his most desperate times.
As if noticing Zi You's pale face, the middle-aged man ignored Zi You's question, furrowing his brow as he asked,
"Did your illness flare up again? Do you need me to…"
"No need. They can't do anything anyway."
Zi You cut him off before he could finish.
"Sigh… Alright, go rest. You just had an attack and you came out to greet me. I don't know what to do with you."
Zi You gave a faint smile and then went inside. He was truly exhausted; almost every time the illness flared up, it felt as if it drained all his energy.
