I'm the author of the series *Dumbass Youth* (Currently dropped because I copied too much from *12 Goddesses* and now I'm stuck, can't think of anything else). I'm releasing this new story and hope everyone will support it. I'm just starting to write, so please overlook any mistakes and comment on my story after you've read it. Happy reading, everyone!
Yen Bai, xx/xx/2018, 11 PM, heavy rain.
Bang!
Thunder and lightning echoed in the sky, tearing through the quiet night. On the rooftop of a luxury hotel, a figure flickered in and out of view. It was a young man, around 20, or more precisely, 19 years old. His name was Sơn, Nguyễn Tuấn Sơn, and he was, coincidentally, our protagonist. The rain poured down on Sơn's head, making him uncomfortable. He raised a hand to his nose and…
Achoo!
"Life ain't no dream." He said with a bitter voice, yet a smile bloomed on his face, making him look like a madman.
"Damn it, I'm trying to kill myself, and even God won't let me. So unfair. I curse you two, H and D. I haven't even gotten laid yet, and you two betrayed me!" Sơn muttered to himself, raising his middle finger to the sky and...
Zzzap, Bang!
Lightning struck right where Sơn was standing, lost in his self-pity. Before falling, Sơn only managed to scream, "Damn it, I haven't even gotten laid yet!"
(Let's go back a few dozen hours to see what the fuck happened.)
Yen Bai, 7 AM, at Saint Sơn's house.
"Handsome Sơn, wake up quickly so you can take me to school!"
Thump... Wham... Oof...
A girl's voice rang out, causing our sleepy protagonist to roll off his bed and onto the floor, hitting his head on the leg of the table in the middle of the room.
"Fuck, which asshole is calling me?" Our Sơn immediately rushed to the door to see who was calling, despite only wearing black briefs. As soon as the door opened, Sơn's eyes met a girl his age, with a face that couldn't be called pretty, nor ugly; in short, it was ordinary. Sơn stared at her face, completely frozen. The girl in front of him was Hạnh, his friend from middle school all the way through high school, and now they were about to enter the same university.
"Ew!" Hạnh covered her eyes with her hand and quickly turned away when she saw our Sơn, with his six-pack body, running out in just his briefs to greet her. Sơn didn't understand what was happening. He just stood there, staring at his best friend with a dazed expression, as if he'd just smoked weed.
"What do you want? Damn it, you ruined my good sleep." Sơn grumbled in a sleepy voice, which only made Hạnh laugh harder.
"Ha... ha... Go put some clothes on, or people will think you're a pervert trying to rape me." Hạnh clutched her stomach, laughing, as she turned back to see Sơn still standing there, picking his nose as he asked her. Hạnh's words startled Sơn, who looked down at himself to see only his loose briefs. He quickly ran inside to put on proper clothes, then came back out with a serious expression.
"Why do you look so serious? You're scaring me," Hạnh said with a chuckle.
"Didn't you see *it* just now?" Sơn asked.
"Huh? See what? Besides some big bulge sticking out of your briefs, I didn't see anything," Hạnh replied, feigning innocence.
"D-damn it, so you *did* see it. Well, that's it, I'm ready to get married now." Sơn covered his face, crying tears that wouldn't come.
Sơn trudged to the storage room to get his electric pedal Lambor-ghe to take Hạnh to school.
Sơn and Hạnh stood before the room to receive their results. They quickly took the papers handed to them, both reading the contents on the outside. Their hearts pounded as if they would burst from their chests. Their hands slowly tore open the envelopes; inside each was just one sheet of paper. They read each word, then looked at each other.
Time seemed to stand still for a moment, then a loud shout made the teacher jump: “YEAH! We got into university!”
This would have been wonderful, if not for what happened next. Sơn, overjoyed to the point of acting foolish, suddenly stood up and blurted out to Hạnh.
“Hạnh, I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?” Sơn’s words made Hạnh freeze for a moment. Immediately after, Hạnh stood up, smiled, and said.
“You must be joking. I don’t like that.” Hạnh turned to leave, but Sơn grabbed her hand, and they looked straight into each other’s eyes.
“I’m not joking. Will you be my girlfriend?” Sơn persisted, refusing to give up. Hạnh lowered her head, thought for a moment, and then spoke.
“All this time, I thought we could just be friends forever, but since you’ve said that, I guess I’ll have to accept it…” Hearing Hạnh say this, Sơn’s heart soared, and he immediately said.
“So, Hạnh, you agree?” Sơn said, overjoyed.
“…..Sorry, but Dũng and I have been dating for over two months, so I can’t be your girlfriend.” Hạnh looked up and smiled, splashing a bucket of cold water straight onto Sơn’s face. Sơn’s smiling face suddenly froze, tears streamed down. For the first time in his life, Sơn knew what it was like to laugh through tears.
Immediately after that, everything unfolded as everyone already knows from the opening. Oh, I forgot to mention that Dũng is our Sơn’s best friend. (The author feels bad for the main character. Just kidding about that last bit; I’m actually laughing my ass off at this guy’s fate.)
“Hey, wake up, you useless master!” A strange voice echoed in the silent space.
