In a luxurious residence, a heavily pregnant woman, about to give birth, was surrounded by midwives.
She was in labor, straining to push out her child.
“Push, madam, it’s almost out!”
Hearing that, she took a deep breath and pushed even harder. The baby's body began to emerge, and with it, a light emanated from the baby's forehead, dazzling those around them.
“Oh!”
The midwives tried to shield their eyes from the intense light.
After a few seconds, the light vanished, leaving behind only a four-pointed star-shaped birthmark.
“Waaah, waaah!”
A cry came from the baby. The midwives, though bewildered by what had happened, still had to attend to the baby first.
A moment later, the baby's entire body emerged. The midwives cut the umbilical cord and looked at the baby as they wrapped it in a towel.
“Congratulations, madam, it’s a girl.”
Hearing the midwife's words, she smiled faintly.
“That’s wonderful, wonderful! Give her to me, I want to hold my child.”
A clear yet very weak voice came from her; she was utterly exhausted after giving birth.
The midwives handed the baby to her, and she cradled the baby in her arms.
“My child, my child.”
Her eyes welled up with tears of joy that fell onto the baby. Then the baby stopped crying, raised its tiny hands, and touched its mother's face. At that moment, she was truly happy.
Suddenly, the door burst open with a loud bang as it was forcefully pushed in, startling the baby, who began to cry again.
“My child, where is my child?”
A deep, powerful voice boomed out. A large, burly man stepped in; he was the baby's father. He had just heard the news that his wife was in labor and had rushed home immediately.
“Quiet down! The baby’s crying again!!”
She snapped at the man standing by the door, her voice full of weakness, which made him profusely apologize and approach his child.
“This, is this your child?”
He looked at the baby, overjoyed. He could finally be a father.
“So cute, our child is so cute!”
As he spoke, his eyes welled up with emotion.
“Have you thought of a name for our child?”
He asked his wife gently.
“Thao, Ngoc Linh Thao, that will be her name.”
She said, her voice still weak, while the man's face lit up with joy.
“Thao! What a wonderful name.”
He said, looking at the baby.
“From today, you will be Thao, the only child of the Ngoc clan.”
He said with joy. The man caressed the baby and gently stroked its soft forehead.
“You look just like your mother.”
Then he handed the baby to a midwife and turned to look at his wife.
“My dear, how are you feeling?”
He asked, full of concern and worry for his beloved wife.
“I feel a bit tired.”
She said weakly and wearily, which made her husband restless and worried.
“I want to sleep for a bit.”
And then, she closed her eyes and fell completely silent. Her husband thought that due to the exhaustion of childbirth, she had passed away, which made him extremely sad, and he wept on her bed.
“No, you can’t die, I won’t let you die!!”
Just as he cried out loudly, she sat up abruptly and said.
“I’m not dead!!”
After speaking, she lay back down. Her husband, confirming his wife was still alive, breathed a sigh of relief. Relieved, he then instructed the servants to attend to his wife, while he gently picked up the baby and carried it back to its room, a room he had long prepared for the baby to sleep in.
The moment he placed the baby in the cradle, its loud cries slowly faded, and the baby drifted off to sleep.
